Local Lift: Krakens Cove, Mad Batter Bakehouse, & Book Rack Giveaway

Thanks for stopping by to check out my latest Local Lift! This week I’m excited to give away gift certificates to a few wonderful Whidbey Island businesses including Kraken Cove, Mad Batter, and Book Rack.

Local Lift is a feature I started back at the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic as a way to support small, local, independent businesses. Along with purchasing + giving away gift cards to our community, I also love to spotlight each business here on my blog and show off what makes each business so special. Thanks for following along!

This week’s giveaway includes:

  • Two $65 gift certificates to Krakens Cove

  • Two $20 gift certificates to Mad Batter Bakehouse

  • Two $50 gift certificates to Book Rack

Winners will be drawn at random. To enter, head on over my Facebook page to find this Local Lift giveaway post and follow the instructions. (All you have to do is leave a comment on the Facebook post that features this giveaway to enter!) Deadline for giveaway entries is 5pm PST on Thursday, October 5.

***Please note that I will NEVER ask for credit card info from you! AnnieCashTeam.com is my only website, and this is my only Facebook business page. Thank you!***

Krakens Cove

Krakens Cove just had their grand opening! They’ve been around for a couple of years but big congratulations are in order to this steak and seafood restaurant and lounge on Pioneer Way in Oak Harbor. Krakens Cove menu is filled with surf ‘n’ turfs favorites; find calamari, oysters, Penn Cove mussels, Penn Cove mussels, seafood salad, house clam crowder, Crab Louie, New York strip loin, filet mignon, shrimp scampi, and much more all on the menu.

Another fun thing about Krakens Cove is the fact that it’s in a historic building that was built in the 1850s. Back in the day, the building was used as a warehouse, store, and saloon.

Visit KrakensCoveRocks.com to check out the menu and follow them on Facebook for updates.

Mad Batter Bakehouse

Located right in the heart of Downtown Oak Harbor, Mad Batter Bakehouse has become a popular local staple. Mad Batter specializes in generously sized gourmet cookies, but they also sell other baked goods, a huge menu of drinks, and more. As far as the cookies go, you’ll of course find classics like chocolate chip, but there is always an eclectic variety of cookies available to order, and always something new to try! Just a few of their cookie creations include Sea Biscuit (milk chocolate, bourbon caramel icing, sea salt), oreo (cookies & cream topped with Oreo mousse), Slow Burn (toasted s’mores with chocolate chips, marshmallows, and a butter graham cracker crust)… and many more!

Visit MadBatterBakehouse.com to order online, follow them on Facebook and Instagram for updates, and check out their Yelp page for more info on offerings.

Book Rack

Book Rack in Oak Harbor is an independent, family-owned business that’s been operating for 40 years. While you will of course find an extension selection of books (including graphic novels, anime & manga) here, you can also shop for board games, trading cards, hobby supplies, arts & crafts, puzzles, and much more. Book Rack also hosts events and gatherings including book clubs.

Visit BookRack.com for browse events and shop; you can order items online, but of course there is nothing quite like browsing a bookstore in person! You can also follow Book Rack on Facebook and Instagram for updates on sales, new offerings, recommendations, and more.
