Local Lift: A Vintage Affair, Mad Batter Bakehouse, Trippy Whidbey, & Lotus Tea Bar & Studio GIVEAWAY

This week's Local Lift is all about Oak Harbor: a vintage shop full of one-of-a-kind finds, a bakery that changes its theme every few weeks, hand-dyed clothing made right here on the island, and a tea bar that's also a yoga studio. I'm excited to share these four special businesses with you!

Local Lift is one of the ways I like to support independent businesses here on Whidbey. I started this feature back at the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic when local economies were struggling. With each Local Lift, I purchase gift certificates to local businesses and give them away to the community, all while shining a spotlight on what makes each place so great.

Thanks for stopping by!

Please note that I will NEVER ask for credit card info from you! AnnieCashTeam.com is my only website, and "Annie Cash Team - Windermere Whidbey Island" is my only Facebook business page. Thank you!

A Vintage Affair

A Vintage Affair is a downtown Oak Harbor boutique at 721 SE Pioneer Way, and you just never know what type of treasures you'll find there! The shop is stocked with antiques, vintage clothing, furniture, and home decor, and she also brings in pieces from other vintage vendors across Whidbey and Camano Islands, so the inventory changes all the time. If you love sustainable shopping and finding things nobody else has, this is your spot. Consignment is available by appointment, too.

Mad Batter Bakehouse

If you’ve ever been to Mad Batter Bakehouse in Downtown Oak Harbor, then you already know that this isn't your average bakery! The whole shop transforms around a rotating theme, with decor, cookie flavors, and drink names all tied together. Past themes have included Harry Potter, Pirates of the Caribbean, Twilight, and Game of Thrones. Their hearty, handmade cookies are the main draw here, but you'll also find cupcakes, cheesecake, crumbles, and specialty drinks that match whatever the current theme happens to be. They've been known to sell out fast, so go early!

Trippy Whidbey

Trippy Whidbey started in 2016 when Alex Martinis began making tie-dye shirts for friends and family in Oak Harbor. Word got around about the colorful designs, and it grew into a full brand with a shop at 715 SE Fidalgo Ave #101. You'll find hand-dyed shirts, hoodies, and apparel in everything from bold rainbow patterns to monochrome designs. They also teach tie-dye classes, so if you've ever wanted to learn how it's done, here's your chance.

Lotus Tea Bar & Studio

Lotus Tea Bar & Studio at 710 SE Fidalgo Ave #102 in Oak Harbor is part tea bar and part yoga studio. The loose-leaf tea selection is huge (many regulars say they just let the staff pick for them!), and the menu of sandwiches and soups includes vegetarian options. The sandwiches are even named after yoga poses! Yoga classes are open to all levels.
